A 445th Bomb Group air crew based at Tibenham Airfield.

The 445th Bomb Group flew B-24 Liberator aircraft. It lost 25 of the 35 aircraft it sent on the Kassel Mission in 1944 and five more were badly damaged in that action.

Film star James Stewart joined the 445th Bomb Group as operations officer for the 703rd Bomb Squadron. He flew missions over Germany and was promoted to major during his time at Tibenham.
